今天重点要分享的是重音。
1.WORD STRESS “单词重音”
单词重音指在读某个单词的时候其中一个音节需要重读。有的单词只有一个音节（如：mind），有些单词只有一个重读的音节而其他音节需要弱读（如：remind, reminder, reminding）。
下面的例子中黑体字部分为重读音节。
1）如果一个形容词派生自某一个单音节名词（如： art， mind），其重读部分保留在原来单词那部分。
下图呈现地更清晰一些大的实心圆圈表示需重读，小的空心圆圈表示弱读。
2) 区分拼写相同的一个名词和一个动词时，可通过重读部位进行判断。
3) 复合名词重读在第一部分。
• bookshop
• football
• notebook
• toothbrush
实心方框表示重读，空心方框弱读。
4)以 -eer.结尾的单词，词末部分需重读。
• auctioneer• engineer• pioneer• volunteer
5)通常前缀之后的部分需要重读。
• demolish• dismiss• prepare• untie
6) 重读如下字母之前的音节。 (部分示例)
2.句子中，并非所有的单词都重读。
1）实词需要重读。实词即具有实际意义的词在句子当中能够独立充当成分且实词有词形的变化，包括：
名词Nouns(e.g. school, station, train)
常规动词Normal verbs(e.g. run, work, speak)
形容词Adjectives(e.g. beautiful, tall, friendly)
副词Adverbs (e.g.quickly, noisily, badly)
2）虚词弱读。虚词即没有多少实在意义,在句子中不能独立承担句子成分,而且还有一个重要的特点,那就是,虚词没有词形的变化，包括：
限定词Determiners(e.g. a, an, the)
助动词Auxiliary verbs(e.g. can, have, may, will, etc.)
连词Conjunctions(e.g. and, but, as, etc.)
代词Pronouns(e.g. you, he, she, us, it, them, etc.)
英语母语人士交流之时，即便没有听清一些虚词，也能够理解整个句子。最重要的词需要重读。例如
For example: "Would you likeacupof tea?"
在英文中，讲话者会根据想要传达的信息而进行重读。例如重读单词的不同会导致意思的改变。
Areyougoing to the cinema tonight?(or isit someone else?)
Areyougoingto the cinematonight?(or not?)
Areyou goingto thecinematonight?(or somewhere else?)
Areyougoingto the cinema tonight?(or another night?)
在对话中，学习者需要通过听重读的实词来理解整个句子。因此在平时的练习中需要练习重读实词而使他人能够明白自己讲的话。
结合今天的内容请尝试练习如下的几个句子。
Example: Jack (yes) went (yes) to the shop (yes) to grab (yes) some coke (yes).
（单词后带有yes表示该单词需重读）
1.He had finished breakfast before I arrived.
2.Phillip ordered a huge steak for dinner.
3.They will have to stay up late if they are going to finishtheir homework.
4.It must have been something in the air that caused Jack toshout.
5.Could you please be more quiet?
6.Unfortunately, Jack wasn't able to finish on time.
7.As soon as he has collected the results he will post them tohis website.
8.Peter bought shoes today.
9.There should have been some replies by now.
10.Knowledge creates opportunities where none have existedbefore.
